What is the Certification Portal and who is it for?
The Certification Portal (formerly Education Portal) is the new recommendation system used to manage certifications to lead NAMI Signature Programming for a NAMI State Organization or NAMI Affiliate. This is accessible by all with a MyNAMI account, and those with training history can keep track of their new training requirements, certification history, and program resources. Affiliate administrators can run reports to track progress on recommendations, invite newcomers to become associated with their organization, and program leader management.
For the training process: A Referrer is someone who submits a recommendation for a Candidate's training – this is how you ask someone to take the training required to earn a certification at your organization. Referrers are usually NAMI alliance staff members or leaders. A Candidate is the person being recommended for a training or invited to be associated with an organization.
How to Log into your Account as a New Candidate
After receiving a recommendation, you can set up your account. Refer to your inbox for an email with the subject “New NAMI Recommendation for (Program Name).”
- Click ‘Login and accept this recommendation as Your Email’ to create your nami.org account with the email address listed OR
- If the email address listed is not your preferred email address or you already have an existing nami.org account, click "Accept this recommendation with another email."
Note: This could be the email you already have a NAMI Account under or the preferred email that may be different from your email for primary communication with your Referrer. Try to keep all history with NAMI under a single account. Unsure what your username is or if you have used multiple emails in the past? Email success@nami.org for support.
- Use the temporary password provided to log in and reset your password
- You will see the myNAMI menu; click on Certifications.
How to log in as a returning Candidate or Alliance Staff
If you already have and account, you can access the Certification Portal in one of two ways.
Candidates: login through the training recommendation invite email when you receive it.
Primary method for anyone with a NAMI.org account
- Login to my.nami.org with your email as your username. This is the same email you used to create your NAMI account that has your membership and training history.
NOTE: Unsure what your username is or if you have used multiple emails in the past? Email success@nami.org for support.
- On the myNAMI main menu page, click Certifications (formerly EdPortal).
- You'll see a “Choose Your Own Adventure!” screen, select Check out the new system (:
The Education Portal is being phased out and replaced by the Certification Portal. During the transition period, users may have access to both systems, but all certification activities will eventually move to the Certification Portal.
Important: The Education Portal will be retired in January 2027. We recommend beginning to use the Certifications Portal as soon as possible. Creating new recommendations in the Certification Portal now will help ensure a smooth transition as the Education Portal is retired. Candidates will also see this page, not just referrers. Candidates should ONLY select the Certification Portal through the "Check out the new system" option.
