Completing an Invite as a Candidate

What is an Invite?

An Invite is a request from a Referrer for you to join their NAMI organization and create a myNAMI account if you do not already have one under your preferred email address. If you want to access various NAMI platforms or be affiliated with NAMI, you will need an account regardless if you want a program certification (for example, if you want to become a member, make a donation, etc.). The invitation will help you get started in creating an account.

You will provide your Referrer with your preferred email before you get the invite.

What happens first

After your Referrer sends you an invite, you will receive an email asking you to connect with their organization. You can either accept or decline the invitation. The subject line is “You're invited to join your organization!”

Note: your referrer and their email are provided. Also, there is a due date if you wish to complete this invitation request

Be sure this was sent to the email address already associated with your myNAMI account or that is the preferred email address you want your account to be under moving forward.

Accept or Reject the Invitation

The invite email includes a link to accept the invite or reject it. Both links open a confirmation page. Each option is shown below. You can reach out to your Referrer or your chosen contact at the NAMI State Organization or Affiliate for next steps.

If you Accept the invitation, you will become affiliated with that organization.

If you didn't already have a myNAMI account, you will receive an email with instructions on how to set up your myNAMI account

If you Reject the invitation, then no affiliation is created.

If you didn't already have a myNAMI account, you will not be prompted to create one

If you never respond to the invitation by clicking either accept or reject, the invite expires on the date the email lists, 6 weeks after the invite is sent.
